Transitional Doctorate in Physical Therapy:
The transitional D.P.T. program is designed for practicing physical therapists already holding a bachelors or masters degree who wish to enhance their skills and professional status. The length of each student’s plan of study depends upon their current level of education, experience, and skills as defined by the American Physical Therapy Association’s “Normative Model of Physical Therapist Professional Education, Version 2000” and an evaluation using an extensive portfolio. All curriculum plans of study include pharmacology, radiology, evidence-based practice, wellness, and gender healthcare. Programs are also available for non-U.S. trained physical therapists seeking the D.P.T. or initial licensure.
Established in 1892 by the founder of osteopathy, Andrew Taylor Still, M.D., D.O., A.T. Still University began as the nation’s first college of osteopathic medicine and has evolved into a leading university of health sciences. Today we offer more than 20 master’s degrees across allied health disciplines, doctorates in health education, physical therapy, and audiology; the doctor of dental medicine (D.M.D.); and the doctor of osteopathy (D.O.).
